Since the launch of Ranked Season 1 we’ve been investigating reports of very highly ranked players (Cobalt/Elite) being matched up against Bronze and Silver players. Thanks to player reports, we’ve been able to track down the issue and will be rolling out a back-end update today.
Unfortunately, this fix will also result in some players being de-ranked down to Gold Specialist, due to the re-normalisation of the skill rating distribution. This will ensure that these players can continue to find matches against others in the short-term.
The affected players will still be awarded the Trinket for the highest rank they have earned up until this point, but we encourage them to rank up again for the true prestige.
Ultimately this change should result in more balanced ranked games for all our players. Future games will be more consistently matched around actual skill level.
