Server Help

(DarkLord75) #1

I would like to request everyone’s help on this. I am a fairly regular player of a certain Wolfenstein server. Recently, a little script kiddie enjoys entering the server multiple times with an aimbot and a nick switching tool. The admin is already using the “PB Alias Manager” (or something similar, im sorry :)), but that still doesn’t stop the little pest from re-entering the server again, and again, and again. I have already banned him several times, but he just re-enters with a different nick (and a different GUID, I suspect)! The server is running ETPub, if this is of any help. Any help, tips, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

PS: If this is of any relevance, I also possess a demo of the little pseudo-hacker “in action”.

Ban by his IP subnet. Do a whois on his IP, find out what IP ranges belong to that IP block, ban that IP range.

absotively
subnet bans ftw

Before he asks:

PB_SV_BanMask [IP Address / Subnet Mask]
Permanently bans players from joining the server from the specified IP Address / Subnet Mask; for example: issuing PB_SV_BanMask “12.34.” will cause PB to deny access to all players trying to join from an IP Address that begins with “12.34.”; These bans are written to the pbbans.dat file just like bans issued with the PB_SV_Ban command

If you ban a subnet, you may want to remove it after a period of time (say a month), in case innocent players with the same subnet can’t connect. That will give the cheater time to find a new server to torment.

I thank you all for your help. I have found a detailed guide to perform these actions, and Ill leave a link for all other admins with the same problem.
