New joining players autoadded to attack team when odd number of players

See topic. I don’t know why it has been done so but this is wrong.
It has always been an unwritten rule on pubs since at least ET that if odd number of players, one joins always to reinforce defense to avoid steamrolls.

Now since we obviously have the game placing a new player not to spec but to the attack team by default, I am totally sure it should better be changed to defense team by default.

I have an idea, when a player join the server check the amount of finished objects + the amount of time left?
Some random examples:

  • No objects finished + 10 minutes left = new player to the attack team
  • 2 objects finished + 15 minutes left = new player to the defense team

it also has to do with the class you spawn with, as Engi I spawned as attacker, but spawn as soldier I was on defense

Not sure about that, everyone I see always get put on attack.

go in by yourself, as first in, I was on attack as Engi, but defense as Soldier

it may just be for first person in, but I had no way of telling, everyone was on the forum bitching about empty servers while I wandered around on US obj
