How to use Medkit?

This is going to sound stupid, but.
How do you use the medkits?
I select the ability, and it doesn’t allow me to use it on anyone, or myself.
What am I doing wrong?

Stand beside the the unit you whant to heal.
Click on the medikit
A white circle appers around the unit beside you…
heal.

so they have to be right next to the unit?

Yes .
(except healing aura for angie, covers 3s)

You can’t heal yourself though. You’ll need another medic for that.
