Ooh, very cool. The packs are REALLY expensive though
    We urgently require psi-tapirs!

So brink remade without ironsights? I know I'm gonna love this.

(By the way this is NOT sarcastic if it sounded like it.)

Re: First-ever Dirty Bomb Gameplay Video Released!

Looks to me like 90% of the GOOD things that Brink did are being abandoned because of the 10% that ruined it.

If that sounds jaded and disappointed, it is.

Also, why only PC? I know you guys have more experience there, but the PS3 version of Brink was the least broken of the 3 on release, so you were doing SOMETHING right... better than when someone else tried porting ET to console.

Well that video was very cool indeed . I'm very much looking forward to getting my hands on this!

It looks like the guys at SD have been listening to their community's wishes, ADS doesn't seem to be much of a requirement right now. Maybe we can change that during alpha/beta though :P.

My guess is it's a much easier way to test the waters.

No need to wait ages for Microsoft/Sony to approve patches, more control of what is released when, no-one else looking over their shoulder etc.

Once successful on PC I'm sure the consoles will get looked a look in, it's refreshing for PC to be the first considered for a change.

Now all that's needed is an advanced ponytail swishing engine and we're ready to launch.

Yea, but no ironsighting seemed pretty effective too. Atleast, they showed almost only footage of no ironsighting. Wether or not this is in purpose remains te be seen.

All in all I'm pretty satisfied and thrilled after this video. The only thing that kinda put me off was how fast people seemed to die. It's pre-alpha footage so I'm not worried. I also really support alpha and beta testing and I hope they find a decent mix of people (Skilled, unskilled, rambo, teamplayer, support, ...) with a good mix of different computers.

On a sidenote, am I the only one who instantly checked his email right after signing up for a chance in beta? :p

No, It has iron sights at one point in the video. It's nice that it shows off that you don't need them.

2 things that really struck me as awesome in this video. One - movement looks good! Two - the weapons look so much better than compared to Brink. I was looking at only them the first time I viewed this trailer.

First weapon is an m4-type, there are actually 2 of these and they look similar. but the receiver is odd. Also for some reason this weapon looks a bit smaller than it should be. Look at the scale compared to the fingers, the bullet would be half the size of the guy's thumb! I hope this is fixed.

Second weapon is an airstrike marker, looks like a Stielhandgranate.

Then... the deagle! It doesn't sound like a deagle though

After that a weird sniper rifle that looks like a cross between a sten and a BAR with a scope on it... Once again why does this weapon sound like its supressed? The echo from it is clearly large compared to the initial sound.

Tec-9. The parts look really odd and out of scale, maybe.

Whoever did that cabling job on the explosives needs to be given a raise, I think they had the guy who designs those fancy sleeves for computer cables do it.

Not sure what to make of the machinegun, it looks like a mp5 with a box mag and a handle lol.

benelli-looking shotgun, it's missing a pump animation. The mine looks standard, low textures though.

Small glimpse of some short mp5 thing.

Another MP5 looking thing. This time a MPV-40 SMG.

    Another MP5 looking weapon?

And another tec-9 with an AR's rail.

I like the look of the tank in this, and that's pretty much it I think.

In previous interviews, posts and gameplay stuffles (on previous titles) a lot of the SD guys have said they personally prefer to play primarily non-iron sighted, so this probably has something to do with the lack of it in the video.

It's also a good hint that they're keeping in mind not to disadvantage people that want to play this way, which is a good thing, at least we can keep our fingers crossed.

Agreed, but as you say, it's early days, however this is the sort of feedback I'd like to see heeded.

Yea I thought the sounds are a bit iffy as well. I don't care about realism per se, but a lot of the guns sound more like airsoft rifles. Especially in a tight city environment including tunnels and indoor sections the sound of a gunshot should be bouncing around a lot, amplifying it and making your ears bleed.
I also had this issue with a lot of guns in Brink tbh, so I'm not sure if it's a design choice by SD, or if they are going to change it.

The movement does look good, doesn't it? Also liking the double explosive plant and the visible mines, both planted anywhere!
The guns sounded OK to me but I'm not much of a gun nut so maybe take that with a pinch of salt.

Is that a timer at the top showing the different objective phases? What a great idea.
