Ping jumps to 999 ever few seconds in online play

Brink works great for me when playing single-player, but when I try online play, I keep freezing still every few seconds and the ping jumps up from whatever it was before (usually under 100) to 999. In a second or two the ping returns to normal, but then it jumps back to 999 after a few more seconds. This makes online play impossible. This doesn’t happen with any other game.

I’ve got a Radeon 5670 card with driver version 12.6, running on Windows 7 64 bit.

Any ideas as to what could be going wrong?

Thanks

I think you are behind a router. If that is the case you need to forward these ports UDP/TCP 27015, 27016 and 8766 or bring your PC in DMZ.

Apologies for this–I believe I finally figured it out. It turns out that my computer was intermittently trying to scan for and autoconnect to two different wireless networks. So it was happening with other games, but it didn’t happen all of the time, so I never noticed it. I finally corrected my wireless settings to only autoconnect to one network, and I’m back in business with Brink. Thanks!
