    ETL Frostbite v4
----- Reboot of the original Frostbite by Moonkey-----
    << 15

This game has seen many years go by and is yet loved by many. To properly honor this, the first map that has been "converted" to ET: Legacy (a.k.a. visually enhanced to make way for the coming Legacy renderer) is Frostbite. One of the most popular maps this game has ever seen. A big thank you to Titeuf for filming the trailer.

This map was initially created by Moonkey, who still deserves all the credit for the map layout and gameplay design. It was created as a tribute to the good old times of RtCW MP and ET. We hope it will bring back some memories to the old-schoolers amongst you.
This is the fourth version of this map for ET: Legacy. Please keep in mind that these maps, just like the game itself will be continuously versioned with each release.

    -----Story-----

A convoy is about to make a shipment of supplies that could bolster Axis resistance in the region. The Allies must steal the Supply Documents and radio them back to Allied Command so the convoy can be intercepted in time.

    -----Changelog to original Frostbite-----

    • The player is now able to stop and revert Storage Wall movement by activating the button again.
    • Alarm now also sounds when the Service Door has been dynamited before the Storage Wall and Main Door.
    • Entity count has been reduced from 479 to 348
    • Structural mesh and VIS blocking have been improved
    • Several visual changes have been made

    -----Changelog to previous versions-----

    • Axis garage spawn bug has been resolved
    • board in the objective room has been made destructible
    • clipped areas the player is not supposed to go
    • prevented quick, easy trickjump over storage wall
    • slightly improved structural/detail VIS mesh

As I have just tried, putting etl_frostbite_v4.pk3 in ~/.etlegacy/etmain made the map available for Linux. Thanks, congratulations!

Thanks for the map, its looking awesome, and it will be put on our server soon. Also thanks for omnibot waypoints been needing them badly. Also, can we expect maybe that same thing will be done to some other maps like supply, bremen, adlernest and such? Thanks!

    Re: ET: Legacy

You can expect other maps being rebooted as well, yes. Currently being worked on are Bergen by Detoeni, Würzburg Radar and Adlernest.
We have one mapper dedicated for each port, so it will take some time. But Bremen, Marrakech Streets and Warbell are on my personal list. The best thing would probably be to start with Bremen because of its frequent use in competitive play. But like I said, this will take some time.

For the bot support you need to thank Native12. Also another big thank you from my side!

If you encounter any irregularities with the map, then simply report them here and we will do our best to ship fixes in future updates.

    Re: ET: Legacy

Wow thanks for answer! I must say that I'm absolutely happy to hear that you are working at radar map also, because that map really need some work! Hopefully this new version of it will be more liked by the players. Ofourse thanks to all developers from mappers to omnibot waypoint creators! Also looking forward for new bremen and adlernest version. Take the time you need, but its awesome to see that someone is still working on this game and investing time in it.

    Re: ET: Legacy

Domagoj, if you have some spare time and motivation, could you compile a list of what exactly it is you think needs work in Radar?
We'd be happy to have a look at it.

    Re: ET: Legacy

We are happy to announce two new collaborations, both regarding new weapon models for ET: Legacy.

InspirationTuts kindly offered to create new high quality weapons as part of the graphics overhaul of the game.
Check out their Twitter and subscribe to their YouTube if you can.

The second collaboration is with Zimuus who will bring those models to life with his wonderful animation skills. Check out their Twitter and also subscribe to their YouTube if you can.

Hopefully, there is more to show in the coming weeks/months, so stay tuned.

    Re: ET: Legacy

Great news! But do you guys were thinking about rewriting animation system of ET? I like how weapon animations were rebuild in True Combat Elite. This old animation system could be a barrier for a good animator.

    Re: ET: Legacy

The new weapon models are supposed to be in .iqm, so no, we won't be using the vanilla animation system.

    Re: ET: Legacy

Never heard about this format. It seems its supported by both ETL and ioRTCW. It's compatible with blender as well. That's awesome.

Small update to let you know that there is still active development on maps. After Frostbite, by Moonkey, we have Bergen, by Detoeni.
Below are 4 sneak-peeks of the first test compile of the terrain blending. Still a few faulty triangles left, but overall it's on a good way.
