Update about the Linux server, please

    Dear Splash damage studios,
Im running my country's Brink community, when the game launched we had many players, but now we are getting low on players because we have only Linux servers so we can't get a server up and running, that made a lot people leave, please write here an update about the Linux server files.

What this guy said. Our gaming community is also really looking forward to Brink servers, but I can't even tell them when
A wise man told me to stay away from crazy people, I have been running from myself ever since.

Are we forced to have a linux topic everyday. Everybody is waiting for them, just use the multiple ones already existing.

So one week of crashing servers has been passed....
NOW WE NEED LINUX BINARIES...maybe they will crash better ;-)

That's what they said a week ago too, so I guess no news then.

Agree with OP, we are desperate for the Linux servers files or it'll be hard to keep interest up for our clannies. And no we're not going to rent any windows server, we already have a Linux server (still running RtCW btw)

    still nothing??

come on! we, as a gameserver provider, do not want to push people to other games telling them we do not support brink due to poor performance just because you are not releasing the binaries!

Re: Update about the Linux server, please

    push, give us the binaries!

Re: Update about the Linux server, please

In the real world things only get released when the author/developer is ready and wants them to be released. No amount of indignant asking will make it happen any faster.

They aren't sitting there watching this thread thinking "Damn, not enough people complaining, if only more people were letting themselves get wound up about this, then we could release the Linux version."

Re: Update about the Linux server, please

that might be true, but if player asking for an update about the progress it should be possible to answer them, right? thx

That i can understand, having no answer not even a valve-like "When it's done", and playing the MIA are inacceptable. And that does not concern only the Linux binaries but almost every topic in this sub forums.
SD show a little respect, we are the one hosting the servers.

Re: Update about the Linux server, please

it'll be released once most of us are no longer interested because we've moved on to other games to host.

the game is dying anyway, there are almost more servers than players.

it's the other way around: if nobody asks for linux binaries game developers do not release them ...
users are not aware of the difference... they just complain about the high prices, bad performances, lags, crash and so on...

funny how a game can be a completely failure if it's not supported by the Linux gameservers providers....

look at team fortress 2 or css ... those are games we need to keep pushing
real linux support and gameservers providers friendly

Exclamation Re: Update about the Linux server, please

Brink has the same problem as then Unreal Tournament 3!
When the game was released, there were only a Windows Dedicated Servers and Linux Dedicated Servers come out until months later. The consequences may be one or the other unknown. Fewer and fewer people played this game. After about a year after the release of the game announced that the lead developer Epic Games' his resignation.
Unfortunately, it is now standard practice only Windows Dedicated Server has to offer and that despite everyone knows that the community only Linux Root Server. It is a disgrace to the game developers who make the first effort to develop such a great game and then fail in the one major sticking point. However, the price of a game in business is always the same, no matter how good or bad this game was at the end. There is unfortunately always enough people buy this game and then fall for the advertising on the Internet or television.

I do not hope the Splash Damage will make the same mistake as Epic Games and published in the next few days the Linux Dedicated Server for Brink. Sufficient voluntary tests are sure to find one here in the forum to resolve even the latest defects. I found the mailing list from Epic Games then very helpful and useful to users and developers.

    Greetings, Markezzz

SD have already said that a Linux version is in the pipe line due to the demand.

Saying 'Come on, Where is it ?, Come on, Where is it?, Come on' won't make it happen any faster.

Threads like this only serve the purpose of people venting the fact that they are letting themselves get frustrated when waiting.

Due to the demand? lol what a joke...

Oh yeh, since Windows server is so widely spreaded in the internet, SD doesnt need to provide linux server binaries... yes of course that make actually sense...

Windows server costs mostly extra money per month as well as everyone who doesnt develope with ASP or any other windows only language will always choose a linux server instead of windows.

If that wasnt clearly known at SD then they are real dilettantes...

Duke Nukem is coming out soon and Brink will be out of the picture.. at least for me.

Its really sad because most of us agree: we had high hopes for brink.. not only did they screwed up the release, they screwed up by not releasing the linux version..

oh well no fear Duke Nukem is here...
