Which 3/5 medic abilities should you take?

(hyperhopper) #1

The medic can get lazurus grenade, supplies transfer, metabolism, sprint buff, and adrenaline, but can only use 3 at a time? Which 3 should he take?

I was thinking that supplies transfer should be dropped since the medic needs all the supplies he can get, but for another to drop im stumped. What do you guys think?

Yeah, I never have enough supplies as it is!

I currently use Adrenaline, Metabolism and I’ll probably get Sprint Buff.

Although the end user usually doesnt realise that I’ve given it to them so its a bit of a waste.

Also, no lazurus grenade?

I take Supply transfer and adrenaline always. Laz grenade sometimes, metabolism others.

supply transfer is the most pointless skill on a medic. A medic is the most vital teammate needing supplies. why would you give them out? I think, laz grenade , speed buff , and adrenaline.

(Kroktar) #6

My main is Medic/Engi.
Mi medic have Laz grenade and Adrenaline.

But i still have one point left… and i dont really know what to get…

Metabolism or Gear Head, How much Gear head increase the construction rate? I have used Metabolism before it works great IMO better than adrenaline sometimes cuz lack of comunication.

Sprint buff the dude when escorting him, give him the adrenaline and regarding the lazurus , I think people maybe too spread out for it to work in 5v5 but could swap that for metabolism…

(tangoliber) #8

I’d say just go with two: Adrenaline and Lazarus Grenade. The others sound nice in theory, but I think its better to use your pips on life buffs rather than metabolism or a very minor speed boost. As for transfer supplies, it seems to me that most people have enough pips to hold them through their lifespan.

As with anything I post in these forums, this is just an idea. I could be very wrong.

Though rezzing multiple people is a nice application of the ability lazarus also gives you the ability to rez from large distance as well as on other planes. Perhaps brining up that clutch engineer on top of the balcony when you are pinned down for instance. For this reason I think the skill is mandatory.

(labrat777) #10

Metabolism is a must if you have smart players on your team. I know when I get buffed with it the only way I’m going down is if I make a huge mistake. The flipside of that is its incredibly easy to waste if you give it to an idiot.

IMO sprint speed requires good communication and/or battle sense. Gets wasted often, normally by the medic who isn’t paying attention to whether or not it will actually be useful. having adrenaline and lazarus grenade as your second and third seems very powerful.

But don’t forget there’s no death penalty, transfer supplies can be used in some interesting ways because of this.

Adrenaline will likely be banned from competitive play in its current form. It’s pretty much a free plant or defuse for any team with even mediocre timing. Now, if it lasted maybe half of its duration or even less, then maybe it’s worth examining… but I haven’t seen a team that likes it as is yet.

(solidpillow) #12

Has any noticed how small the “healing cloud” of the lazurus grenade is? You better hope that the enemy has stacked all of your wounded teammates into a nice little pile. Speed boost doesn’t last long enough to get a real advantage. Adrenaline and Metabolism seem like the best choices. Laz grenade if I had to pick a third.

(Humate) #13

Adrenaline = Poor Mans Tac Shield from etqw but with the ability to shoot. Not a fan :frowning:

(NeoRussia) #14

I’d use adrenalin and laz grenade for sure as they are the most important abilities. Speed buff is situational, good ability for maps like Terminal and Refuel where objectives are far apart and capturing/returning briefcases is one of the objectives. Metabolism is better then a regular buff because it lasts for as long as the teammate is alive, saves him from dangerous situations and lets him stay in the fight longer, as a regular buff protects against only 1 or 2 bullets. I’d personally go with adrenalin, lazarus grenade, and metabolism.

(riptide) #15

All of the medic abilities are situational and generally you do not need one. However I think laz nade will have the biggest effect. It prevents your own demise by allowing you to res from cover or with ease in the middle of a gun fight.

(INF3RN0) #16

If you have 2 medics in a competitive match, then I would suggest just one of them carrying supply transfer. This way you can supply transfer to your engy after his first group weapon buff and get full kevlar on every player as well in that first spawn wave.

(riptide) #17

You can do this with 2 engineers on the spawn(I think) as I can almost bet every team will have 2-3 capable engineers and medics. One is probably even medic/engy.

Well considering that Adrenaline was banned from the 5v5 tourny its pointless to pick it. I would personally go with Metabolism, speed boost and the lazurus grenade, the supply transfer ability just seems pointless. Metabolism is great for anybody really but the speed boost is especially important for maps like container city where you want your obj guy to get the plant fast, or for heavies who are slow as it is.

Having said that adrenaline is very useful when pubbing. I use it all the time on my medic character. What a lot of people don’t realaise is that it also fully heals your teammate whilst protecting them. I do believe it has no place in comp though. The only way to stop it is to knockdown the person and you can’t always rely on knocking the person down.

(Amp) #19

I’m not sure I totally like the idea of speccing your character for specific maps, but I wonder how many people thought of having a Medic Sprint Buff a Lightweight Soldier for the first objective of Container City, then Punching Adrenaline (of course, after it’s been nerfed and subsequently unbanned) when the medic gets there.

(Crytiqal) #20

IMO the two most useless (if not restricted) ones you can choose
