Brink Pickups Steam Group

(dygbert) #1

Hopefully, this group will become a great alternative to IRC Clients/Servers. While IRC is a great way to find PUGs or scrims, not everyone who is interested or involved in the competitive scene have the time, knowledge or patience to set up an IRC client. Since all Brink players on PC are required to go through Steam to play the game, the group chat feature is easily reachable and can be done without hassle at all. All you need to do is join the group and enter chat.

I hope to introduce competitive/organized gaming to those who have been intimidated by it in the past while also catering to those who enjoy and/or have enjoyed it in the past so anyone being disruptive, elitist or annoying in general will be kicked and banned.

Don’t be an annoying asshole and you’ll be fine.

Use the group chat to find a pickup group or a scrim.

Proper format for searching:
Team Size | Server location | Mode | Map

Example:
5v5 | NA East | Stopwatch | Aquarium

Other options:
Skill/League level
Classes wanted

of players needed

Currently looking for admins, preferably those with experience in competitive/organized gaming.

For people who don’t know how to use IRC, they can use webchat. All this is doing is splitting people up.

And the dozens of IRC channels aren’t splitting people up?

This is accessible within the game and using the various Steam features (Game invites, mainly) it’s a much more simplified and better option. No need to open a browser (Although most people probably have one open anyways) and you don’t need to Alt + Tab out. Everything can be done using the Steam overlay while Steam is running.

Steam has a browser built in. I get your point about the dozens of IRC channels, but that will soon filter down (and it’s not that bad - I know of 2 on Quakenet) when the game is released.
