make distance fog

hey i really wanna mage some fog over the water, anyone who can help me out here?
tried working with fog before but i didnt make it working… so a step by step explanation would be great:D

here to see where i wanna put fog :

Do you want fog all over the map or just in particular area’s?

no…sorry still dont get it… tried making a fog texture called fog_grey1 putted in sfx
made a brush with one side fog and the rest nodraw…
devmap the map
and…nothing:( :frowning:

well, i got fog in my map… not the way i wanted…but there is fog there…all over the map…why should it be so hard making an fog brush that is visible??:confused::confused:

Fog brushes have to have fog on all its sides but only one side exposed to the player to work. In this instance this type of fog wouldn’t work well I don’t think for what you want. It’s mainly used for ‘bottomless pit’ fog and such.

Atmospheric fog is the best you are going to get sadly I think.

yes, i think you’re prob right…just another limitation of et sadly but true
