How can i convert bsp to map??

How can i convert bsp to map?? I want open per exemple oasis and edit it.

It’s not advised to decompile maps (out of respect towards the map owners/creators); however the oasis map is free for editing . The source file is available somewhere, use search to find your needs

You should search the forums for “decompile”.
As far as I remember zhere are already some threads.

I have looked better on google:

http://www.google.nl/search?hl=nl&num=100&q=bsp+decompiler&btnG=Zoeken&meta=

3rd link results to:

In your GTKRadiant-Folder, you are supposed to have a “q3map2.exe”. If you do, create a new TextFile (txt) next to it and name it whatever.bat.
Rightclick on it -> Edit. Notepad should open. Now copy the following into the document:

q3map2.exe -convert -format map -map *TheNameOfTheMapYouWantToConvert*.bsp -game wolf

Then simply copy the bsp you want to convert into the folder and run the whatever.bat. The process should only take a few seconds and you’ll have a map-File.

If it is with the owners permission it’s great.
Btw the 6 original map files are released!

That’s what I mean: if source files are published, I have no problem with editing that particular map.
Other maps, even though you personally believe there are a lot of improvements to be done, are by no means to be decompiled (if permission of the original owner is not given).

For the source files of the stock maps, they’re here somewhere, use search, you’ll find it

EDIT: I also do not support the code you gave earlier for decompiling maps. Personally I find it not done to post such a code in a developers forum.
Even if it’s for personal use, there are always people who use it for bad purposes (just my opinion)

Glad you dont have the permission to remove it. :D

I dont agree with you here, if you give credits to the original creator its ok I think. But lets forget about that.

Ok, Ill do that, thank you.

You can use EVERYTHING for bad purposes, even a bottle of water, you can kill sb with it. But I think its not reasonable to not post such a Manual, just because sb could misapply it.

Unfortunately this is an issue that never ends. There are always people pro and contra…
However, to contribute to the topic, here are the stock maps (source files)

PS.: I’d like to see someone try to bash another person with a bottle of water

(Paul) #14

(Paul) #17

You can’t decompile a .so or .dll

(B0RG) #18

Well, no. But you can edit PK3 files.

Ok, I wont disturb this mapping realted topic anymore.
