forgive me for asking

but is there some kinda link from ETQW to doom looking at the new screens i though the gun the troops carry looks very similar to the doom3 machine gun?

It does look similiar…

(Doom3)…also fairly lighthearted messages that talk about that weird guy who works down in Delta Labs or Quake 43 (right, like they’d ever have that done by 2145).

BUT…

(Enemy Territory: Quake Wars) will be an online-only multiplayer shooter that will actually take place just before the beginning of Quake II (when the warlike aliens known as the strogg had invaded the Earth). Quake Wars will take place during the initial invasion…

My conclusion is that the Ultimate assault gun was created during Q2 times and it is sooooo good that they never felt the need to replace it for a very long time !

Reasons for similarities:

1. Using doom 3 weapons for wip shots
2. Using similar layout of gun just because it fits.
3. We all know how much of a story excists in id games, about nil above “bad things happen, you have to fix it”. So anything besides 1 or 2 seems highly unlikely. :moo:
