go through the tutorials at http://www.wolfensteinx.com/surface, loads of beginner tutorials there!

Enemy Territory is based on Q3 technology and alot of the Q3 tutorials do apply as well. If you have never mapped before then ET will seem like a shear cliff face.

Start learning the basic tutorials as soon as possible.
