Locki Interview

There’s a very interesting interview with Locki over at HomeLAN:
http://www.homelanfed.com/index.php?id=23509

This quote in particular should interest everyone here:

We’ll also be releasing player-model export tools soon and a new archive of media from our unfinished maps.

(MadJack) #2

I wonder how soon soon is

(DG) #3

hope they might be letting a good mapper loose on the actual unfinished maps too

(blushing_bride) #4

it would be nice if they released the maps for someone else to finish up. I espcially liked the look of the indoor eygytian temple level.

(Wils) #5

The indoor egyptian temple level was from single player.

i saw this screenshot

http://www.jeuxvideo.com/affpic.htm?images/pc/r/w/rwetpc008.jpg

and assumed it was from multiplayer becasue it seems to have a Fireteam box in the top left…but i guess the single player could have had some kind of squad stuff going on. shame they did not release it as it looks good

so any hints as to what the other media will be and when?

(G0-Gerbil) #7

The SP AI (fireteam) was the reason it was dropped, cos the people concerned (Realtime strategy game specialists, IE no experience with a FPS ever) couldn’t come up with the goods.

Still, looking forward to it all - new resources for the mapping competition

Hmm, “soon” could be Friday or Saturday.
Thats first birthday of ET.

(dime1622) #9

actually, “soon” was one month from february. it’s not SD’s fault though, they submitted the stuff to activision AGES ago, and activision has yet to release the stuff.

(nUllSkillZ) #10

I know, I followed the discussion.
But which date would be better then the 1st birthday.
Only a guess.

(No1_sonuk) #11

26 May 2004.

(G0-Gerbil) #12

Har! Waiting on activision?
I wonder if the competition was the same and we’ve done SD an injustice?
IE they’ve done what they said they would and are basically waiting on activision?

Oh well, there’s plenty of free resources out there so I wouldn’t go around holding my breath…

(dime1622) #13

yeah, several members of SD have mentioned that the stuff for the SDK was submitted a while ago, includes textures, player model exporter, all the models, but that theyve been waiting on activision for quite a while.

(chavo_one) #14

Does anyone from Splash Damage have an email addy for the person at Activision responsibile for the approval of the SDK release? Maybe if they knew how much the community wanted this stuff, they would speed along the process.

(MadJack) #15

Prepares his Mass Emailing software  lol j/k
